Gentech joins Scottish trade mission to Brazil

Tuesday, November 29, 2011

Gentech Sensors joins a delegation of Scottish business leaders led by Scottish Secretary Michael Moore on a visit to Brazil this month to strengthen export and sporting links with the south American giant.

Brazil is seen as having one of the big four emerging economies, with growth in the same league as China and India. Scottish companies already export £180m worth of goods and services to the region but Moore hopes to increase this.

The delegation represents a range of sectors including engineering, education, food and drink, sport, energy and finance, will travel to Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Brasilia. The mission has been organised by the Scottish Council for Development and Industry and timed to coincide with St Andrew's Day on 30 November.

"We will miss no opportunity on this trip to promote Scotland across the board,” says Moore. “Our key message will be that we are open for business with the Brazilian market and further across the globe. This trade mission demonstrates the clear economic benefit to Scotland of its membership of the UK.”
